Your focus is to implement and manage the processes and people of Matlock Farm Park. Your tasks are wide-ranging and subject to change when necessary. Core Responsibilities: 

 Motivate all employees to deliver an outstanding level of customer service. 

  • Ensure and manage animal welfare at all times. 
  • Ensure and manage staff and visitor welfare at all times. 
  • Establish and oversee the implementation of company policies, procedures, and legal protocols. Ensuring all paperwork is up to date. 
  • Follow all company policies and procedures. 
  • Oversee and manage all Health and Safety protocols, including staff training, risk/risk impact assessments, reporting procedures, defect management, PAT testing and electrical management, mandatory signage, and fire protocols. 
  • Be responsible for the specific key safety indicators duties allocated to you within the Health and Safety policy. 
  • Manage and maintain Café Environmental Health protocol and paperwork. 
  • Oversee the security of the farm park. 
  • Oversee operations working closely with the operations manager. 
  • Monitor and renew all licences (animal, riding, alcohol etc). Ensuring all paperwork is up to date. 
  • Monitor and renew all insurance. Ensuring all paperwork is up to date. 
  • Lead, implement and maintain 1st aid protocols and training. 
  • Consult with the senior and junior management to ensure standardisation in all departments. 
  • Maintain budgets and costs and liaise with the accounts department on spending. 
  • Address customer queries, feedback, and complaints 
  • Collaborate with human resources to oversee recruitment, induction, staff training plans. creating and implementing accurate standardised paperwork and job descriptions. 
  • Collaborate with human resources to oversee and implement staff appraisals and staff training. 
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.  
  • Manage the disciplinary and grievance procedure. 
  • Manage the appeals procedure. 
  • Oversee the management of the riding school. 
  • Gain and listen to customer feedback. 
  • Lead and organise annual events e.g., the Peak District Highland Games, seasonal, promotional activities.  
  • Represent Matlock Farm Park at networking, award events on MFP TV and radio appearances. 
  • Secure all due diligence paperwork from building contractors. 
  • Manage external catering vans/outlets. 
  • Manage contract cleaning services. 
  • Analysing entry and sales figures in line with company targets. 
  • Manage the emptying of the septic and grease tanks. 

 The day-to-day activity of the position: 

  • Work rota (monthly) 
  • Morning walk around prior to opening, identifying, and dealing with issues. 
  • Oversee and manage car parking/entrance queues/staff, supporting where necessary. 
  • Ensure farm operational management is covered every day ensuring the park is running efficiently, including all events, kiosks, tills, riding, parties, café, shop, play areas etc. 
  • Manage daily events (sheep ferret racing/wallaby encounter/animal handling etc.) 
  • Monitoring quality of food from outlets, café, and rainforest 
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to all. 
  • Deal with staff, customer and animal issues/complaints that may occur in a swift and appropriate manner.  
  • Monitor staff performance and standards. 
  • Monitor health, safety, and security.  
  • Monitor hygiene and cleanliness. 
  • Monitor and analyse gate and sale figures. 
  • Manage and monitor end of day jobs and cleaning, toilets, bins, and litter. 
  • Oversee locking up of the park.  
  • Any other duties to meet the needs of the business. 
  • Carry out all administration duties in relation to your job role 
  • Monitor and answer social media queries, questions and complaints 

Qualifications and Skills

Essential requirements: 

 Management qualification to a level 4 standard or more than 5 years industry experience in a general management role. 

  • First Aid qualification – appointed person. 
  • NEBOSH/IOSH health and safety qualification 
  • DBS checked. 

 Desired requirements:  

  • Safeguarding vulnerable groups qualification to a level 3 standard. 
  • Animal Care to a level 3 standard. 
  • Environmental health qualification to a level 2 standard.
