See what visitors have been saying on Tripadvisor since our re-opening:
‘A very much needed, more ‘normal’ family day out- thank you again Matlock Farm Park’
‘There was a one-way system in place which was very clear and very well thought out’
‘The staff are so friendly, the animals are very cared for and we loved feeding them!’
‘I loved the amount of hand sanitisers there were around the park…. Everywhere seemed very clean’
We, and our animals, are thrilled to welcome back visitors to the farm park. In order to adhere to government guidelines and ensure safety is optimum, we have needed to amend some of the operations in place, whilst still providing an enjoyable experience for all.
Group visits are currently restricted to a maximum of 6 people per group.
Upon arrival at the farm park, it is mandatory to provide ‘sign in’ contact details, either by scanning the QR bar code on display or by completing our manual test & trace contact details sheet.
We have a one-way system covering most of the farm park, thorough signage and PPE in place and restricted visitor numbers in all buildings. We have set this up to promote social distancing– it is straightforward to follow and these simple measures help visitors to have a relaxing time with us.
Face masks – following updated guidance from the government, customers entering our buildings, including gift shop, toilets and animal barn, are required to wear a face mask/covering. Customers with certain disabilities and children under 11 years are exempt. Face masks are optional in outdoor areas of the farm park.
Our cleaning regime has stepped up to include more frequent cleaning of toilets and touch points around the farm park. There is an increased number of hand-sanitisers available and we recommend regular hand-washing for at least 20 seconds at our stations.
Visitors are able to wander the farm park, pet and feed our lovely animals. At present we are not running the usual crowd-gathering, timed activities at the farm park, such as ferret racing and meerkat feeding. However, extra animal interactive activities we do have running are:
Regular Wallaby Encounters to restricted visitor numbers at fixed times throughout the day (supervised by staff)
Short children’s Pony Rides on every day (weather permitting). Times set daily- simply purchase a £2.50 voucher on entry.
Our indoor Rainforest Playcentre is closed at present, but all of our outdoor play areas, including sandpit, go-karts (£1.00) and pedal tractors are available to use.
Our Café building is currently closed, but we have up to five food & beverage takeaway outlets open, serving a range of hot & cold food, snacks and drinks. We can also cater for special dietary requirements – please call us on the day of your visit to discuss food choices, giving us time to prepare to reduce your waiting time. We have picnic benches allocated to consume items from these outlets and there is also a designated picnic area for your convenience.
We are delighted that our popular Horse-riding lessons and treks are fully back up and running. Please call us to enquire for availability and we will book you in as soon as possible.
For Birthday Party enquiries and bookings, and for any Group Visits, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your needs and the possibility of booking. Please note, we are responding accordingly to evolving government guidance in these areas.
Offers such as our Parent & toddler Deal and Senior Citizen Meal deal are running as usual during term time only. Please see our Offers Page for full information .
For information on any future special events at Matlock Farm Park, please check our What’s On page and our facebook listings.
We THANK YOU so much for your continued support at this time. We did not participate in crowd funding during our closure, as we felt it was a difficult time for so many people, but it is now that we need our visitors back more than ever, to support the costs of caring for our animals and to keep our small business running.
We hope to see you soon,
The MFP Team
