Part time Animal Events Assistant

Permanent Part time 3-4 days per week (weekday and weekend rota) Matlock (Two Dales)

Job Summary: 

As farm events assistant your focus is to assist in caring for the animals that feature in events, ensuring that all animal care and hygiene methods are adapted, and policies and processes are followed at all times. You will be working with visitors and customers during the farm park events schedule and as party host during parties. You will deliver an outstanding level of customer service, instructing customers/ visitors on the importance of health, safety and hygiene processes when taking part in the events, safeguarding animal welfare, and ensuring that the animals are not distressed during interactive sessions, and are treated in a calm and quiet way. You will follow processes to ensure outstanding hygiene measures are maintained pre and post events. You will work closely with the farm team to ensure a high level of animal care and ensure information is given in an accurate and timely manner, reporting any issues directly to the operations manager (in relation to animal care) or the communications manager (in relation to customers or visitors). Your tasks are wide-ranging and subject to change when necessary. Core Responsibilities: 

  • Work in line with all Health and Safety protocols,  
  • Work in line with first aid protocols. 
  • Assist with start of day procedures relating to events. 
  • Assist with end of day procedures relating to events. 
  • Carry out welfare checks throughout the day. 
  • Support with feeding and watering of animals in accordance with the daily schedule. 
  • Prepare and carry out events throughout the day. 
  • Prepare for party bookings and be a responsible party host. 
  • Carry out cleaning duties to reduce the risk of cross contamination. 
  • Assist in the Rainforest Café. 
  • Assist in the Retail areas. 
  • Take payments, using the till system, if trained to do so. 
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to all. 
  • Keep the farm park areas clean and tidy. 
  • Work well with others. 
  • Follow all company policies and procedures. 
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion. 

The day-to-day activity of the position: 

  • Assist with entrance procedures. 
  • Inform your supervisor of any issues with the animals. 
  • Inform your supervisor of any issues with customers/visitors. 
  • Effectively carry out all morning and afternoon event jobs, as requested and complete all required paperwork. 
  • Effectively carry out all morning and afternoon farm jobs, (if directed to do so) and compete all required paperwork. 
  • Effectively carry out all morning and afternoon Enchanted Hamlet jobs (if directed to do so) and complete all required paperwork. 
  • Empty bins. 
  • Support with cleaning and tidying the Rainforest Café (if directed to do so) and complete all required paperwork. 
  • Carry out car parking duties, if applicable. 
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to all. 
  • Monitor health and safety and report any issues.  
  • Monitor hygiene and cleanliness and act on any issues. 
  • Any other duties to meet the needs of the business. 

Essential requirements: 

  • Good customer service skills 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Level 2 qualification in animal care or three years experience
  • GCSE Maths/functional skills level 1 
  • GCSE English/functional skills level 1 

Desired requirements: 

  • Customer Service qualification, level 2 (Apprenticeship) 
  • DBS checked
