Don’t miss our hugely popular, fun events at Easter, Halloween and Christmas – lasting memories to be made…

Easter

Spring is in the air and it's such a special time at Matlock Farm Park. Nearby farms donate their cade lambs which need lots of dedicated care, in the form of bottle feeding and some gentle nurturing.

Visitors can learn about these lambs at our cade lamb sessions, watch them being fed and get involved in gentle petting - lovely photo opportunities. Children can also follow an Easter Treasure Trail every day of the Easter school holidays, 28th March-12th April.

Of course, Easter wouldn't be Easter without the very jolly Easter Bunny who makes an appearance morning and afternoon from Good Friday to Easter Monday to help with our famous Easter Egg Hunt, with sweet treats available for children involved. Over this weekend, there's also our Find the Golden Egg feature at the park, with a super prize to be won. There's all the usual fun of the farm park with sheep racing, small animal handling, wallaby encounters, meerkat feeds, ferret racing and more!

On Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, we will also be joined by external entertainers - check out our What's On page before you visit!

Halloween

25th October - 2nd November

Get involved in some spooky goings on at Matlock Farm Park!

Come and walk along our spooky trail in our woodland and see some familiar Halloween characters at different prop sets - don't worry - it's fun, not scary! Don't miss our Ghoul Games as you wander! We'll have friendly characters too to interact with in the woodland and around the park, even providing broomstick flying workshops or ghostbusting fun!

Of course, there'll be our Pumpkin Patch* which you can pick up a token for, and children with their grown-ups can grab a wheelbarrow to explore the patch and pick their favourite pumpkin - carve it here at our carving stations or take it home with you! This year, every child with a paid park entry ticket will receive a FREE PUMPKIN!*

Witch Wendolyn will be running her craft workshops from 25th-31st October for little ones to make lovely keepsakes and if you keep your eyes peeled, you may even be lucky enough to catch sight of the Headless Horseman late afternoon, just as the light fades…

There will be all the usual animal delights of Matlock Farm Park including Sheep Racing, Small Animal Petting, Meerkat Talks, Wallaby Encounters & Ferret Racing, as well as our daily Pony Rides* for children. There's lots of opportunity to play too, including our fabulous covered Enchanted Hamlet multi-zone play area, marvellous indoor playcentre The Rainforest and outdoor Jumping Pillow!

Christmas

Each of the three Christmas events are pre-book only. Farm park also open for general entry without the need to pre-book.

Breakfast with Santa

Have Breakfast in style in our cafe as Santa Claus joins you at your table to get you into the festive mood! He'll have a lovely chat with you during breakfast and is sure to know all about his special diners! Santa will provide a special early Christmas present to children dining and of course he'd love to have photos taken.

At the end of Breakfast, it's time to sit with Mary Christmas in her parlour as she reads a very special Christmas Story. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the farm park's facilities.

Relaxed Santa Sessions

(Suited for those with additional needs, such as Autism, who may require a very tailored experience)

Come to see Santa for a special, more relaxed experience and at a pace suited to your loved one. Book a specific time slot to avoid crowded areas & noise, provide information about your loved one and discuss with our friendly staff how we can provide the most memorable experience. All children are welcome at our regular Matlock Farm Park Santa’s Grotto, however, these sessions in the grotto area include other activities, are lively, busier and have less time with Santa Claus. The Relaxed Santa Sessions have dedicated dates and are designed for loved ones who require more time to adjust, a longer experience with Santa and a calm environment.

The Matlock Farm Park Christmas Experience!

Have a wonderful Christmas journey with us at Matlock farm Park. First join in with Chief Elf and her team to make lovely Christmas crafts to take home, then write a special letter to Santa, come and view our Christmas scenes and have some fun at our Naughty or Nice o’meter – will you be on Santa’s ‘Good List’? All before meeting Santa Claus in his beautiful grotto to chat about your Christmas wishes and receiving a special gift from the Big Man in Red. Enjoy the rest of the day in the farm park too with bags of animal and playtime fun!

Also available at Christmas time:

Festive pony rides*
Christmas carol singing/brass band music
Christmas treasure trails
Market stalls (selected dates)

*From 2.5 years. Small charge applies
